"...the thingness of something becomes apparent when it is no longer functioning as it did before or it becomes dysfunctional or if it appears in an unexpected place..."

i like the principle of cutting out the middleman. true, the middleman or woman or non-gendered person can add value, when i go to the market to get my rolls and talk to the friendly woman at the baker there i get a small endorphin hit, and i am out in the community being a person who goes to the market and chats to people, adding to the ambiance of the market, albeit in a modest way, but i can also get the same bread rolls from the wholesaler and pay €2 less for them because i’ve got a business account which i probably shouldn’t have. the friendly woman at the market earns €2 for taking delivery of the bread rolls from the wholesaler and bringing them to the markets and having a friendly chat with me, but it feels like a ruse, aided and abetted by the bakery which won’t sell me less than €75 worth of bread. aha but i’ve got a big freezer!
